Photography exhibition called “Photoville” showing on huge banners on the side of Chelsea Park

Have you noticed those photo banners on the fence of Chelsea Park? Me too. So, what is Photoville?

Photoville is a photography festival happening in New York city this summer. You can read more about it here, on the festival's website. In the words of Photoville themselves:

“Photoville amplifies visual storytellers and connects them to a worldwide diverse audience through its free photo festival and year-round activation of public spaces and educational community programming.”

Founded in 2011, the festival has banners in all five boroughs of NYC. Photoville aims to bring the community together through creativity and empathy, using photography to foster a mutual understanding of one another. Photoville has competitions and exhibitions throughout the year. Artists and art appreciators alike enjoy Photoville and what it has to offer. What a beautiful way to bring the community together.

The photos on display in Chelsea are part of an exhibition called The Wild Within. Artists Ryan Koopman and Alice Wexell reimagine abandoned architecture, filling it with a vibrance of lush greenery. As a duo, they are best known for this exhibition, its vibrance, motion, and liveliness.
