The principal problems with your 20s are that you don’t have any money, you don’t understand how important sleep is, and your friends occasionally want to go to places that are very crowded and where the floors are sticky. On the flip side you are better looking than you’ll probably ever be (though you’ll have to look at pictures 6 years later to figure this out) and you’re not quite expected to actualize on all those life expectations yet. And so what do you do when you want to re-live the glory days, and in a place that has appropriate spacing and floors? You go to Georgie’s, on 18th Street & 8th Ave, which opened in June 2026.
Georgie’s says it is an all-day bar, which really means that it is a bustling brunch spot in the morning and a bustling nightlife spot in the evening. And when I say “bustling” I mean it—somehow despite the fact that this place has only been open for 6 months, it looks and feels like it’s been open for a very long time in our neighborhood. Wander by today and you will see the tables outside absolutely filled with people ranging from a little younger than you to a lot younger than you. The crowd inside is similar, but in an approachable way that means you won’t hear anyone say “hey what’s that old guy doing here?” (they’ll just think it, politely). The decor inside has a casually elevated feel, with wood floors and a brassy bar top, and then there is an entire speakeasy downstairs.
We recommend the place for breakfast or brunch, and make sure to get the bacon—which is in that thick-cut style that makes life in that tasty moment worth all the trial and tribulations. The pizzas also get rave reviews on Yelp.
