Penthouses on Succession, Heated Rivalry, new buildings, summer rooftops

Block updates for you below—

We are reasonably certain at this point that the secret to happiness, or at the very least a good couple of days (the most you can ask for), lies in some combination of the following: (i) a slow morning, (ii) a good night’s sleep, (iii) lowering your expectations, (iv) seeing people you like or potentially might like face to face, (v) radical self-forgiveness, and (vi) recognizing that things could be so, so much worse.  Occasionally people write in to this block association and ask what the “mission” is, and while we don’t intend to ever really have a good answer to that question, it has something to do with (iv).  Unfortunately you are mostly on your own with respect to the other items, though we might be able to suggest some blackout shades or audiobooks to help with (ii).  Sorry.  You really shouldn’t look to a block association for the secret to happiness.

Thank you to the Equinox folks (Dominick, Alyssa) for showing a group of us around the soon-to-be new Equinox location at the Terminal Warehouse yesterday.  Our principal takeaways from Dominick and Alyssa are that you get access to this location if you already belong to the Hudson Yards Equinox; you can get a better rate if you sign up sooner (now) rather than later; they are still building out the space and so we might get a little say regarding what’s inside it; and like us, this Equinox is focused on community building and (iv) above. If you have any ideas on how we might collectively execute, let us know.
